Our Supreme Siddhar Shri Muthuvaduganatha Swamigal took Jiva Samadhi at the age of 96 years in the town of Singampunari, which is 53 kms from the Pilgrim Town of Madurai in Sivagangai district of Tamil Nadu state in India. He was born of royal parentage but lost his father early in life. He exhibited various siddhis from his very childhood.
Many consider Shri Siddhar Muthuvaduganatha Swamigal as the Poorna Avatar of the Supreme Parasakthi Annai Varahi. For those on the path of Sri Vidya, Shri Annai Varahi is that personality of the Divine Mother which protects the devotees at every step in his / her spiritual practice.
Sri Vidya is of course the last word in spiritual practice. It is believed that those who get an initiation into the sacred science of Sri Vidya are usually in their last birth. Sri Vidya itself is a graded path of meditation, yogic and mantra sadhana and instruction in this path is imparted through the procedure of “karnat karnam” – from ear to ear, in the form of mantra and meditation / yogic practices. Those who make marked progress and achieve the desired level of purity are conferred the Maha Purna – abhisekham and the Mahapadukanta Diksha.
Do note that Shri Annai Varahi is the Anugraha Sakthi – Power of Benediction - of Lord Sadasiva. Her Grace is unconditional. Meditation upon her thwarts all hindrances from enemies ( these enemies are primarily the hindrances to spiritual practice ), apart from physical and mental strength to face any kind of difficult situation.
Shri Annai Varahi is just another personality of the Divine Mother Lalita Maha Tripurasundari – she is also called Dandini, the Commander - in - Chief of the Supreme Parasakthi. She represents the Caitanya tattva . She is the activator of our physical senses. She is symbolically represented as the flower arrows in the hands of Parasakthi.
It is Shri Annai Varahi who is the progenitor of the pancha tatva- the five basic building blocks of existence - earth, water, fire, air, ether.
It is this Supreme Parasakthi who took an earthly form as our Supreme Siddhar Shri Muthuvaduganatha Swamigal. What can be impossible for our Supreme Siddhar – nothing at all.
Several years after his Jiva Samadhi, when a large temple was being constructed to house the Moola Sthan / Jiva Samadhi, a small portion of the Samadhi was noticed to be slightly damaged.
A young girl who happened to pass by the Samadhi got a glimpse of our Siddhar whose body had become of Divine Golden Colour, with his long hair extending to the ground and the garland of mogra flowers fresh on his neck for over 108 years. He has not only himself attained eternal life but also conferred the same benediction on the garland of mogra flowers which was fresh and emitting fragrance as well as the Ghee lamp and Agarbatti, incence sticks !
It is to such Supreme Siddhar Sri Muthuvaduganatha Swamigal that I bow again and again in perpetuity with tears of gratitude for bestowing his Supreme Grace to all inhabitants in the entire Universe.
Sri Sri Siddhar Muthuvaduganatha Swamigal Mahasiddhaya Sri Maha maha padukam pujayami namaha.
